Mid 1980's White Gibson SG Standard with Hardshell Case NO RESERVEUp for bids is a vintage Gibson SG Standard from the mid 1980's ( it has1985 pot codes and a 1986 serial number). It's finished in the less commonly seen Alpine White color, which has yellowed nicely, and it's one of the unusual SG's from that era with the jack on the SIDE, n ot the face of the guitar. It looks like an extra strap button has been added and the pickup covers have been removed but everything else appears to be original. It's in generally very nice shape for its age, too. The color is now a mellow creme / yellow color. The yellowing is fairly even, but for some reason the photos make it look a little more streaky. So while there are certainly patches that have yellowed more than others I think it looks more even in real life than in the photos. There are some small impressions and marks from use here and there but nothing too ugly. There is a spot of belt buckle wear on the back but it doesn't break the finish or anything. There is a line at the heel where the finish has settled in a bit (see close up photos). It isn't a crack in the wood, just a hairline seperation in the paint. The bridge and tailpiece show some mild pitting but the hardware is otherwise clean. The guitar is equipped with two of the Patent Applied For humbuckers t hat Gibson was using on some models at the time. As I mentioned earli er the covers have been removed, and the little Patent Applied For sticker is only on the bridge position pickup ring (both pickups have the Pat. # stamped on the bottoms). The neck is super straight with low, fast action. The frets show some expected mild wear but nowhere near enough to cause any buzzing or problems. Everything works as it should electronically and it plays / sounds GREAT. It comes in a non-original hardshell case (looks like a TKL case maybe). It has one bad latch but still does a good job of protecting the guitar. Look over the many photos then bid to win- I'm offering it with NO RESERVE.U. S.
