You are bidding on a rare 1991 Black Gibson SG Jr. I had bought a few of these back in 1991 and finally got to speak to a Gibson Rep about the story behind these guitars. He said, "Gibson had a stack of SG bodies laying around in a section of a warehouse and wasn't sure what to do with them, so they decided to do a limited run of the SG J r. That must have been the most inexpensive thing to do. I'm not sure what the total count is." I know that every Authorized Gibson Dealer in town received two each for retail sale, so if you can imagine that across the country. Maybe, only the top Gibson sellers received two each. What makes this SG rare is the Slim Taper fast neck. At the time, the only way you could get an SG with a Slim Taper neck was to buy a '61 SG Reissue or the '62 SG Reissue, and those guitars at retail were not cheap! That's why when I found the first one, I just had to buy a few more. The neck is super fast and easy to play with very low action. The rosewood fretboard is real rosewood, unlike what you'll find today on most new Gibsons. Mini Grover tuning machines,1 volume control, 1 tone control, ABR-1 Bridge and stop tailpiece. All of the hardware is chrome except for the Gibson Historic Lightweight Aluminum Tailpiece. Originally, the pickup was a Gibson P-100, has once been replaced by a 1980's J ackson pickup and recently a Gibson pickup. The holes from the P-100 remain visable, as well as the Jackson pickup surround. Les Paul Custom truss rod cover. There is a hole under that yellow sticker (on the pickgaurd) that once housed a volume pot. There is a hairline fracture on the lower bout of the body next to jack. This does not seem to be structural or in any way affect the playability of the guitar. There are scratches and dings on the guitar. There is a small wear on the 22nd fret under the 2nd string but does not affect the string bending. You can have that filed down by your local luthier if needed. Also, a replacement SG Jr pickgaurd is available online if needed.Overall, this is a very good Gibson SG. It comes with a Gibson Padded Gig Bag, Schaller buttons, and a new pack of strings. This will be 22 years old in 2013! Real Rosewood. Real Vintage. Shipping to lower 48 states only. No international shipping. No returns. Please ask all questions prior to bidding. ... Click for more info
