After a brief run in 1958/1959, the Flying V was retired. It didn't really catch on until its reintroduction in 1966, when rockers like Lonny Mack and bluesmen like Albert King made it their own. Several notable changes were made to the reissued V including a larger pickguard, triangular knob configuration, shorter peghead, and perhaps most notably, a mahogany body. Many players and collectors feel that the the late '60s V represents its peak period of production. This Custom Shop reissue is so precise, only its mint condition makes it distinguishable from the original. The mahogany body, rounded mahogany neck, rosewood fretboard, ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge, BurstBucker 2 and 3 pickups, and every other detail are crafted to precisely match the 1967 specs.
