Price: 1950.56
In superb original condition this wonderful Strat is very rarely available. The guitar has been only lightly played and has ZERO fret wear. An absolute joy to play especially as it has been Plek'd by Charlie Chandler. Currently set up with the pickups on 5 way. This Limited Edition guitar is truly a tribute to one of the most defining moments in guitar history and almost certainly one of t he finest guitars to come out of the Custom Shop.Bill Carson joined Leo Fender part time in 1951 on $18 a week with part of the deal being a Telecaster and prototype amplifier. Bill pointed out what he saw as problems with the Tele and worked with Freddie Tavares, no doubt helped by the Fender Bass development, and produced the Strat which went in to production in October 1954.This Limited Edition commemorates the year Bill Carson went full time on to the Fender payroll and is built to '57 Re-issue spec. The neck can only be described as museum grade maple and the "Cimarron Red" is certainly not shown off to its best in the photographs. Christies sold Bill Carson's 1959 strat for $66000 in 2006.Google Bill Carson for more information on the background to this brilliant opportunity. Included in the package are interesting and noteworthy items as in the photographs and including a letter signed by Donald Schwartz dated January 3 1992.Payment preferred by bank transfer. Cheques accepted with delivery upon clearance of funds. Inspection and collec tion very welcome. Very careful packing and insured postage to UK and Europe is a flat rate £65. For U.S., Canada & Australia please request quote. The reserve is very modest as I would love to see this guitar to a good home where it will be cherished and most importantly played! On 24-Sep-12 at 18:07:57 BST, seller added the following information:I HAVE BEEN ADVISED BY A VERY HELPFUL GENTLEMAN FROM THE U.S. THAT THE PRODUCTION RUN OF THIS GUITAR WAS IN FACT 41 AND NOT THE ORIGINALLY PLANNED 100. PLEASE SEE THE QUESTION BELOWOn 25-Sep-12 at 11:50:36 BST, seller added the following information:In response to the following question/ comment I answered as below - "Hi - yes there was a offer for one of these at $14800 - but just a try! it didnt sell... and it was number 93 - I have also seen a number 61 - so your info regarding 41 may just be the number delivered to the store not the number made. The 57 has a number a variations in the neck and pick-ups so as always with Fende r not easy to tell what is what. The 57 did have a number of soft V necks produced too but to my knowledge no slim Cs - the frets varied from vintage (narrow) to 6105s for the 57 so again not guitar model specific. I also understand that the BC has one lefty produced in the run too. Most on offer out there run to 3000 euros - one sold last year for $3500 in a truly mint (as new)condition. I will still bid though ... Click for more info
