1988 FENDER USA STRATOCASTER PLUS ELECTRIC GUITAR Rare Surf Green Finish, Wilkinson Split Nut, Fender Hardshell CaseWORLDWIDE SHIPPING AVAILABLE This is a 1988 Fender Stratocaster Plus electric guitar in rare Surf Green finish, made in Corona, CA, USA. All parts on this guitar are original except for a new 3-ply white Fender pickguard, Fender backplate, knobs and switch tip. The body, neck, tuning keys, pickups, potentiometers, bridge, etc are original. The neck is dated February 17, 1988 and the body is dated January 15, 1988. The serial number begins with E4, which would typically denote a 1984, but Fender was using up parts that were made in the old Fullerton factory, including serial number decals. The potentiometer codes are covered by the solder, but the part numbers are correct for a 1988 Fender (including the TBX Tone control). The original shade of the Surf Green finish can be seen in the photos under the pickguard - this rest of the finish has yellowed over time to a darker tint.The Strat Plus Series was introduced by Fender in 1987 and was the highest end production model next to Fender's Custom Shop g uitars. The Plus was the predecessor to the current Deluxe model and the basis of the original Jeff Beck signature model guitar. This Strat Plus is basically a hotrodded American Standard: it retains the alder body, maple neck, and modern tremolo bridge but adds Gold Lace Sensor pickups (single coil tone with higher output and no noise, as used by Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck), Wilkinson roller nut and locking tuners (for greater tuning stability). There is a finish chip along the left edge of the guitar as pictured. There are a few indentations and finish scuffs on the body, as pictured below. The frets are in excellent condition, the neck is straight, truss rod works in both directions, and the action has been set professionally set low with a new set of strings and the guitar plays beautifully. The original tremolo arm and Fender molded hardshell case are included - it has lots of wear (cracks in the plastic) but all the hinges are present and all latches work.
