This auction is for a 1989 Fender HM Strat - Made in Japan. I have heavily customized this guitar, using only top quality new components. I routed the bridge recess to accommodate a Floyd Rose bridge (removed the Kahler bridge that came with it). This is a new chrome Floyd Rose bridge. I also added new chrome Schaller locking tuners. I also added a new LSR Roller nut. I precision-cut the top of the fretboard to achieve the exactly proper intonation. When I assembled it, the intonation was so spot-on that I didn't even need to adjust the saddles on the Floyd Rose! This guitar - with this hardware setup, is the perfect combination. It can take even radical string bending without going out of tune, but it can be easily retuned as desired. I have built two of these guitars and I love them both. When I acquired this guitar, it had the EMG 81 and two single coil EMGs already installed. These pickups are thicker sounding - perfect for hard rock and heavy metal. As you can see from the picture of the electronics, the pickups were professionally installed. I added a mini-switch which allows you to add the bridge pickup into any pickup configuration. The neck on this guitar is one of my favorite thin gs about it. It is flamed maple and looks really good. I tried to show a picture that captured the flaming, but it does not do it justice - very nice looking. The frets on this guitar show some signs of use, but have plenty of life left on them. A fret dressing might be desirable by the new owner, but I have never seen a need for it. The guitar plays wonderfully with no fret-related issues. The action is incredible and the neck is straight as an arrow. The guitar has the newer Jim Dunlop locking strap receptacles (which can accommodate a standard strap or a Jim Dunlop locking strap).I painted the body on this guitar in a gloss black finish. When I got the guitar, some yahoo had painted peacock feathers on the front of the Fender stock black finish. I got the feathers removed with minimal damage to the original paint job, but it did require a top coat at that point. So I painted the entire guitar body gloss black and then added a clear polyurethane finish. The new finish is solid and bu ffs up pretty nicely. This HM Strat comes with a non-Fender hard shell case that is nothing to write home about, but it does the job and will protect the guitar on its way to you.I love both of my HM Strats that I have given this custom treatment to, but I have to raise some money to pay some bills. The only reason I am letting this guitar go instead of my ... Click for more info
